These pictures show 2 of our art projects. One was called "Spring Flowers." We had just discussed multiple meanings for words, so it was the perfect chance to talk about how the flowers would "spring" off the page and that they were also flowers popping up in the spring.
I also told the kids that we were "Kicking it old school" for this art project before I even showed them the project. I asked them what they thought that would mean for the art project. I loved their great second grade responses:
ARE WE JUST USING BLACK AND WHITE TODAY?
WE ARE DOING AN ART PROJECT YOU DID WHEN YOU WERE A KID?
What good thinking! However, it meant that I was digging out an old project I had done in my "earlier" years of teaching that I hadn't done for quite awhile.
The other project was making either warm or cool colored spring flowers.
Warm colors = Red, orange, and green
Cool colors = Blue, green, and purple
